In 2025, Bandai Namco Entertainment released Digimon Story: Time Stranger—the first completely new standalone entry in the Digimon Story series in nearly a decade. The game generated massive buzz before launch, and just two months after release, official announcements confirmed that Time Stranger had surpassed 1 million copies sold, making it the fastest-selling title in the series' history.
In a recent interview, Bandai Namco Entertainment CEO Nao Udagawa reflected on the company's performance over the past year, noting that 2025 was the most profitable year ever for the Digimon IP.
"Thanks to the dual success of video games and card games, the Digimon IP has achieved the highest profit record in Bandai Namco Group history, surpassing even the revenue from the 2000 anime era."
And the Digimon IP momentum shows no signs of slowing—Time Stranger is expected to receive a major DLC expansion in 2027, followed by a port to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 later this year. Riding this wave, Bandai Namco also launched the mobile game Digimon RPG in July. Even more surprisingly, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth—which had been region-locked in Japan for nearly seven years—was suddenly unlocked on Steam last week, now available for Japanese players to purchase.
📌 Game Info: Digimon Story: Time Stranger is now available on Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
